Hockey: Start date for new mixed season announced

Five divisions get campaigns underway next week

The Manx Hockey Association has confirmed when the new Mixed and Indoor hockey season will get underway this month.

The Mixed league campaign is due to start on Saturday, 9 September whilst the Indoor season is scheduled to begin a few days later on Tuesday, 11 September with a taster week with Indoor finals to be played on 2 December.

Elsewhere, the first round of the mixed cup competitions of the Cup, Plate and Bowl will be held on 7 October - the draws for these will be made in due course.

Meanwhile, the Isle of Man senior men's and women's teams as well as the Manx junior teams will once again enter the respective EH Championships competitions this season with further details coming soon.

Mixed League format

Premier League

The Mixed Premier League will include eight teams - the league will then split on 28 October with the the top four teams then playing each other again and the bottom half sides playing each other.

Games will continue during the half-term period form 21-28 October

Divisions 1-3

Six teams will be in each of the other three divisions and all will play each other twice with fixtures running until 28 October

Mixed U15's League

The Mixed U15's League will consist of eight teams and, like the premier league, will split but on the later date of 4 November.

Games will not be played during the half-term period of 21-18 October but matches will be played during the cup competition weekends of 7 October and 4 November.

Cup Competitions (Cup, Plate & Bowl)

The first round for all competitions will take place on 7 October, with the second round on 4 November and the finals on 9 December

All Premier League sides will be eligible for the Cup whilst all six Division One teams will be eligible for the Plate.

The Division Two teams will be eligible for the Bowl - only Harlequins HC are able to enter a team into this from Division Three as they're the only club without a team in Division Two.
