Title Challengers to become clearer

Report by Sam Spooner:

This week sees the second round of league fixtures which should provide more clarity over who is going to be challenging for titles in the various leagues. First up sees the Rossborough Men’s Premier League and with Bacchas A defeating Ramsey A in convincing fashion in midweek, Bacchas will be looking to enhance their credentials when they face Valkyrs B. Bacchas have welcomed back a number of players that were absent in the mixed season and are looking like a force to be reckoned with. Ramsey A meanwhile will be bitterly disappointed to have lost in midweek and will be hoping to earn their first points when they face a tricky and determined Vikings B team. Vikings A meanwhile have by far the hardest fixture when they take on Valkyrs A. Whoever wins this match has to be considered one of two key title challengers alongside Bacchas A.

Current Rossborough Women’s Premier League Champions Vikings A begin their campaign when they take on Castletown A. Whenever you discuss title Contenders the outright favourite has to be Vikings A having been the most consistent team over the last 15 years. Valkyrs A will be considered title contenders as well this year but much depends on how they overcome teams such as Ramsey A. Ramsey A will consider themselves as title contenders however they need to improve their strength in depth to consistently challenge over the course of a full season. Elsewhere Bacchas A can kick-start their own campaign when they take on Valkyrs B.

Rossborough Women’s Division One sees one of the early title contenders Harlequins sit out this week giving the other sides the chance to take over top spot. Vikings B take Castletown B with Vikings B one of the other title challengers they are expected to overcome Castletown B. Valkyrs C who were convincingly defeated last week will hope for an improved performance when they take on Bacchas B who struggled last week against Vikings B and were saved on more than one occasion by their goalkeeper.

After Vikings C were unable to field a team last week they look to open their campaign against Harlequins A who despite having some fantastic players were well beaten by Bacchas B last weekend. Vikings C if at full strength have a very good side available to them full of former Island representative players but Harlequins will be determined to avoid another defeat so early on in the season. Bacchas B meanwhile head into their match against Castletown B as favourites.

Rossborough Men’s Division Two sees Bacchas C take on Valkyrs C with the westernes just edging the favourites tag, Ramsey B welcome Castletown Colts to Ramsey Grammer School whilst Harlequins B will hope last weeks determined performance can help them over the line when they take on Bacchas Colts.

Vikings C open their campaign this week when they face Bacchas Colts in Rossborough Women’s Division Two with the experience of Vikings taking on the youth of Bacchas Colts this is an interesting match up. Castletown Colts take on Bacchas C with the two sides pretty even on paper but again representing a youth versus experience match up.
