Mark Cavendish completed the first stage of the Tour of Qatar yesterday (Monday), but struggled to make an impact following Sunday's crash.
The 25-year-old was 96th, completing the 145km route 13 minutes 47 seconds behind stage winner Tom Boonen.
Asked about his crash in the prologue, Cavendish said: 'I tried to bunny hop a speed bump but it just caught my back wheel. They weren't like the rounded ones, it had a lip on it so I came down.
'My hip hurts the most because that's where I came down the hardest.'
He took to the route from Dukhan to Al Khor Corniche with gauze and bandages covering his left arm and leg.
The five-stage 714km race finishes at the Doha Corniche on Friday.
