EU ruling needs opposing - Gary Thompson
Motorcycle events on the Isle of Man won't be directly affected if an European Court judgement is adopted by the UK Government.
That's the view of Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson as the Island is not a member of the EU but there will be other consequences.
The ruling would make it compulsory for anyone using any form of motorised transport to have third party damage and injury insurance.
But the insurance industry believes third party risks for motorsport activities are uninsurable.
There could be difficulties for Manx events as competitors would find it very hard to race at enough meetings to get a Mountain Course licence.
And Manx riders will need to be insured to compete off-Island.
Gary Thompson says everyone should sign the "Save UK Motorsport" petition which seeks an exemption from the judgement:-
