Manx national side facing Welsh champions in friendly this weekend

The Isle of Man men's national football team manager says he and his team are relishing the prospect of facing the reigning Welsh premier league champions this weekend.

After a big friendly win on home soil last month, the Manx side travel to face The New Saints (TNS) tomorrow (13 June) in another friendly tie at Park Hall Stadium in Oswestry.

The hosts - who are now 18-time Cymru Premier division winners - are in the midst of pre-season preparations and are also gearing up to take part in the qualifiers for the UEFA Champions League.

Coming up against what will be new opposition, Chris Bass says his 17-strong Island side is not heading over to make up the numbers and has every intention of coming away with a result:

Tomorrow's fixture is due to get underway at Park Hall Stadium at 1.30pm.

The last time the Isle of Man men's side took to the field was back on Saturday, 2 May where they cruised to a 7-0 home friendly victory over Merseyside-based outfit, Halewood Apollo.

Looking beyond this weekend, the Isle of Man men's team is also scheduled to take part in a triangular tournament at The Bowl in Douglas on Friday, 10 July and Saturday, 11 July with Ynys Mon and AFC Blackpool the other clubs due to be involved.

More broadly, last month's friendly marked the start of what is being dubbed the 'Road to Gold' campaign for the Isle of Man men's national side, leading up to the 2029 International Island Games.
