The Manx public is being urged to get behind Mark Cavendish this evening (Thursday) and help him become BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2011. 
The 26-year-old cyclist has enjoyed his best ever year, winning the Green Jersey at the Tour de France and then being crowned the world road race champion.
A live two hour show from Media City in Salford will decide the overall winner from the ten sports stars nominated. 
Cav is a hot favourite with the bookies, at 4/11 on, and the phone number to ring to register a vote for him will be given out at the start of the programme.
