Nickolas Ellis welcomed into role by F1 legend Nigel Mansell
A young Isle of Man racing driver has taken up an important role in a leading youth work charity in Britain.
Nickolas Ellis from Port Erin has become a young ambassador for UK Youth and has been welcomed into the position by former Formula 1 world champion and the charity's president, Nigel Mansell CBE.
Involving an open network of more than 8,000 organisations and partners, UK Youth says it reaches around four million young people across Britain.
Its programmes include outdoor learning, social interaction, physical literacy and employability.
Having met Mr Mansell at a gala event in London on 10 October, 17-year-old Ellis says he's 'grateful and hugely excited' to be taking up the role.
Separately, Ellis' family resides at the same house Mansell once lived in in Port Erin during his Formula 1 career.
Commenting on the Island competitor taking up the ambassadorial position in the charity, Mr Mansell adds he is 'always thrilled to see young people getting involved with the charity' and 'I look forward to seeing Nick grow' as a driver and charity representative.
