Blow to Ellan Vannin's application
Jersey FA's bid to become a member state of UEFA has been rejected.
The decision was made due to the fact the Channel Island is not a sovereign country as defined by the United Nations.
However, it comes as a blow to the Ellan Vannin team which was hoping to gain UEFA status itself.
It's likely to vindicate the Isle of Man FA's decision not to progress with its own application until the outcome of the Jersey bid was known.
In a statement, the IOMFA says it's 'satisfied this was the correct decision to take, particularly taking into account of the potential financial implications involved'.
