Rutter edged out in final qualifying
Martin Jessopp is on pole for Saturday's 50th Macau Grand Prix.
He finished a whisker ahead of eight-time winner Michael Rutter with Glenn Irwin in an impressive third spot on his debut.
Conor Cummins is the highest placed Manx rider in 9th with Dan Kneen just behind in 11th place on the grid.
The race starts at 7.30am our time.
