Seven-strong academy side impresses in Wolverhampton
An Isle of Man jiu-jitsu club has bagged five medals during recent international competition held in the UK.
Summit Grappling Academy claimed three silver and two bronze as it fielded seven competitors at the Elite BJJ Events Junior World Championships 2024 in Wolverhampton from 13-14 July.
The Island squad secured their silver medals through reigning British champion Iona Meban as well as Alan Greenhalgh and Hana Henson in their respective Gi classes.
Elsewhere, Eryn Fiztpatrick claimed a default bronze having had to face a larger competitor after there was no-one to face in her weight division.
Meanwhile there were first round victories for Stanlagh Mayers and Luca Christian also in their respective Gi categories.
Summit Grappling Academy is describing the team's efforts as 'an impressive display', adding they're now preparing for the IBJJF Kids European Championships taking place in Lisbon, Portugal on 26-27 October.
