John Holden reveals cancer diagnosis

Two-time Sidecar TT winner gives update on social media

Two-time Sidecar TT winner John Holden has revealed he's been diagnosed with cancer.

The driver's confirmed the news in a short video update from London which was posted on social media this week.

During his announcement he's also urged others to 'get checked' so anyone could 'hopefully catch it soon like I did.'

Holden also confirmed he's due to undergo an operation in just over one weeks' time.

However, before then the rider says he will be attending The Sunflower race meeting at Bishopscourt Race Circuit in Northern Ireland this Friday and Saturday (18-19 October).

Along with his two TT victories, Holden has claimed 21 TT podiums including 13 in a row between 2014 and 2023.

Following his most recent podium in the first sidecar contest of last year, Holden initially announced his TT retirement before returning in 2024 after 'a window of opportunity' emerged to come back'.

Last year on the Snaefell Mountain Course along with passenger Frank Claeys they managed an eighth place finish in the first sidecar race and were a retirement in the second.
