Manx side will begin weekend bottom of the table after four games

After defeat in midweek, FC Isle of Man's manager is hoping for a 'positive response' from his team as they prepare to face Abbey Hey in the NWCFL Premier Division tomorrow afternoon (16 August).

Tuesday night's resounding 4-0 loss at Irlam has left the Manx side winless in their opening four games of the season and starting the weekend at the bottom of the league table.

Paul Jones insists his squad has the potential to achieve much better results going forward into the rest of the campaign.

However, he warns that - particularly for the newer additions - they still need time to build up to what he thinks they're capable of:

Along with being yet to register a victory in these early stages, FC Isle of Man's loss earlier this week was also the third time in their opening four fixtures they've failed to score.

However, they may find encouragement this weekend from the fact they emerged as winners against their latest hosts, Abbey Hey, both home and away during the previous season.

Meanwhile, Abbey Hey themselves have also had a mixed start to 2025/26 with one win from their opening four league encounters.

A 4-2 away win at Pilkington last weekend (9 August) was followed up by a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Ramsbottom United in midweek on Tuesday (12 August).

Abbey Hey vs FC Isle of Man is due to kick-off at The Abbey Stadium tomorrow at 3pm.
