Judo: Horton impresses again at British Masters

Island fighter claims medal and maintains place in GB squad

Isle of Man judo competitor Chris Horton has tasted medal success yet again during the latest British Masters Championships.

The Manx judoka went on to claim silver in the M3 u100kg class during competition at University of Wolverhampton's Walsall campus on Sunday, 7 July.

Furthermore, Horton's high finish means he's retained his place in the British Masters squad for 2024-25.

Following his silver medal at the recent High Wycombe Masters, Horton took two submission victories before facing off in the final against former British, European and Commonwealth Masters gold medallist Nick Hawke.

In a close-fought contest, Hawke sealed gold and the win with a successful tai-otoshi attack to secure the ippon score in the last 40 seconds.

As a result of his performance, Horton received an invite from the Great Britain coaching team to help prepare the Team GB Paralympic team ahead of selection for the 2024 Olympics Games in Paris.
