Manx fighter now eyeing up British Veterans Championship
Manx judo competitor Chris Horton has enjoyed medal success once more, this time taking silver at last weekend's High Wycombe Masters.
The fighter from Peel claimed second spot after winning two of his three contests at the event on Saturday, 25 May.
The first of those came up against a familiar opponent in Liam Hodges - who'd twice beaten Horton last year - with the Manxman coming out on top this time with an ippon win.
Next up for the Island athlete was Tola Bishi - despite a close contest Bishi delivered a successful o-soto-gari attack to claim a full ippon score and the victory.
With Bishi then almost guaranteed for gold, Horton took on Mark Smith with this showdown effectively deciding who would stand where in each of the remaining podium spots.
Horton's strength proved key as two waza-aris in quick succession sealed both the match win and the silver.
Next up for Horton is the British Veterans Championship in Walsall in July where he'll be aiming to maintain his place in the Great Britain squad for 2024/25.
