Oates wins sport trap opener

Kevin Oates was in superb form at the first of Ayre Clay Target Club’s Sport Trap Summer League at Blue Point range on Sunday.

He was a clear winner of the Chrystals Estate Agents’ sponsored event, scoring 47/50.

Twenty-two shooters took part in the competition with Marty Kneen second on 43 and Nigel Moffatt in third place on 39.

Gareth Hooson-Owen won B class, while Jamie Hancox triumphed in C class.

Results:

A Class: 1, Kevin Oates 47/50; 2, Marty Kneen 43; 3, Nigel Moffatt 39.

B Class: 1, Gareth Hooson-Owen 32; 2 (joint), Corina Clague and Dave Corlett 31.

C Class: 1, Jamie Hancox 35; 2, Paul Mihailovits 34; 3 (joint), Ted Davis and Peter Lowe30.

This weekend at Blue Point is the first competition in the Harding Lewis sponsored English Sporting League on Easter Day.

Easter Monday’s competition is the annual Easter Sporting Handicap over 50 targets, sponsored by Farmers Combine of Ramsey.  Entries close at 12.30 pm.
