Young German sprinter Marcel Kittel has won stage three of the Tour of Oman.
He produced a devastating finish to out-gun Andrew Greipel to the line.
Mark Cavendish was in contention with Team Sky driving the peloton, as a four-man breakaway was reeled in with five kilometres to go.
The 'Manx Missile' had to settle for eighth place.
Cav tweeted: 'Poor result today. Left it too late & found my path blocked in the last metres. Serves me right for hesitating. Congrats to @marcelkittel'
The next two stages are in the mountains so the next opportunity for Cav will be on the final stage on Sunday.
