Marty triumphs in Santon shoot-off

Marty Kneen won yesterday’s (Sunday) IOM Sport Trap Championship at Meary Veg in Santon.

He triumphed in a three way play-off against Kevin Oates and Alan Wade.

They initially tied on 78 points before Kneen proved to have the best nerve with 23 in the shoot-off, his best round of the day, to be crowned 2016 Island Sport Trap Champion.

The competition, sponsored by Sadler Agricultural Supplies, saw 29 take part.

Paul Mihailovits was fourth on 75 points.

Results: 1, M. Kneen 78+23; 2, A. Wade 78+21; 3, K. Oates 78+20; 4, P. Mihailovits 75.

Juniors: 1, Michael Cross 73; 2, Jack Kneen 69; 3, Jake Brew 62.

Next week is the next round of the Tower Insurance DTL league.

Meanwhile, Ayre Clay Target Club hosted the fifth round of Jewson’s Down the Line summer league at Blue Point on Sunday.

The strong winds made for difficult targets, a factor which was reflected in the scores.

Mike Walker won on a score of 46/136. Ted Kermeen was second on 44/130 with Phil Ward and Dave Corlett taking third on 43/126 and 44/126 respectively.

Results:

A Class: 1, Mike Walker 46/136; 2, Ted Kermeen 44/130; 3, Phil Ward 44/126.

B Class: 1, Dave Corlett 43/126; 2, Bob Corlett 41/126; 3, Richard Butler 32/89.

C Class: 1, Fred Waggett 34/92.

This weekend is another busy one.

The Pheasant Flush Championship, sponsored by Active Cleaning Services, is on Saturday afternoon. Entries close at 12.30pm.

Sunday’s competition is the English Skeet Manx Championship, sponsored by Sadler Agricultural Supplies. Entries close at 10.15am.
