Tributes are being paid to young road racer Wayne Hamilton, who was killed in a crash at the Manx Grand Prix yesterday (Tuesday), two days after winning the Newcomers A race at the event.
The 20-year-old, from Portadown in Northern Ireland, died in a crash at the 13th Milestone.
Road racing legend Phil McCallen has described it as a terrible loss, saying Wayne had shown 'superb potential and riding ability'.
Wayne made his road racing debut in 2009 and notched up an impressive list of victories in the next two years.
The organisers of the Manx Grand Prix, the Manx Motor Cycle Club, described him as a very promising competitor, who had 'set this year's event alight'.
Club chairman Bill Bennett said his death was 'a great loss to the sport'.
