A founder member of the Liberal Vannin Party who contested the 2006 general election will try again in September.
Nigel Dobson, a member and former chairman of Lonan Commissioners, will again be the LVP's official candidate in Garff.
He says the next five years are likely to be extremely challenging, and a strong voice to question government can only help ensure right decisions are taken.
Party leader Peter Karran says Mr Dobson would be a real asset to both constituents in Garff and the Island as a whole.
The only other candidate to declare in Garff so far is sitting member, and Speaker of the House of Keys, Steve Rodan.
