Former Isle of Man resident Nigel Mansell is to be the Guest of Honour at the 2007 Sports Awards evening in March.
The 1992 Formula One World Champion and 1993 IndyCar series winner will present some of the prizes at the Villa Marina on Thursday 20th March.
Mansell lived in the south of the Island from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s with the Isle of Man receiving some excellent publicity during this period.
He entered into the life of the local community and became a Special Constable with the Isle of Man Police Force.
The twice winner of the B.B.C. Sports Personality of the Year Award was also a well-known figure on Manx golf courses.
Nigel Mansell will be the latest celebrity to attend the Isle of Man Sports Council event following World record breaking middle distance athlete Steve Cram, former England Football manager Graham Taylor, Olympic gold medal cyclist Jason Queally, Olympic silver medal winning swimmer Sharron Davies and European golf Order-of-Merit winner Ronan Rafferty.
