The prospect of a Manx Madison pairing for Great Britain at the World Track Championships has moved a step closer following the retirement from international track racing of Rob Hayles.
Hayles has been left out of the Great Britain squad for the meeting in Poland in 10 days time.
Riding with Peter Kennaugh at recent World Cup meetings, the pairing won silver in January at the Beijing Velodrome, and Hayles was the partner for Mark Cavendish when they became World Madison Champions in Los Angeles in 2005.
The Great Britain selectors have gone with youth in the build-up to the 2012 London Olympics.
The current British Madison Champions are Peter Kennaugh and Mark Christian. Kennaugh looks a certain pick for the Madison at the World Championships in Poland and could have fellow Manx rider Jonny Bellis as his team-mate.
