
Mark Cavendish finished 25th as his former team-mate, Bradley Wiggins, won the third stage of the Tour of Britain.
Wiggins now leads the tour after victory in the individual time trial.
He powered round the 16km course in Knowsley, Merseyside, in 19 minutes 54 seconds to beat his fellow Briton and Team Sky team-mate Ian Stannard by 32 seconds.
Wednesday’s fourth stage is from Stoke-on-Trent to Llanberis.
