Douglas suffer another defeat

Douglas lose at Wilmslow

Wilmslow beat Douglas 31-21 in a tight game in North 1 West. Blake Snell’s first half try converted by Luke Hyland kept Douglas in touch as they trailed 21-7 at half time. Charlie Henthorn pulled another back for Douglas early in the second half again converted by Hyland and when Kyle Martin raced in and Hyland made it three from three with the boot, the game was tied 21-21 with twenty minutes to go. Wilmslow killed it off though and edged ten points clear to deny Douglas a losing bonus point.

League leaders beat Vagabonds

Preston Grasshoppers made it four out of four in Women NC 1 North West when they beat Vagabonds 24-5 at Ballafletcher. Early tries from Mary Coleman and Alex Simpson both converted by Sinead Doria gave the Hoppers a 14-0 lead after ten minutes. Vagas struck back at the other end though when Corinna Daly burst over from close range.  This spurred the unbeaten league leaders into action and before half time Simpson ran in her second and lock Vic Bracken forced her way over.

Vagabonds claim second place in Ravenscroft Manx Trophy

Vagabonds beat Southern Nomads 40-5 at Ballafletcher to confirm their second place in the standings and a home semi final. Two Nathan Gibson tries in the first half, both converted by Cam Findlay saw Vagas lead 14-5 at half time, with Jack Fallon running one in for Nomads at the other end. Steve Gawne added their third early in the second half and Tom Rowley nabbed the bonus point with Finlay converting both for a 28-5 lead. Two late scores snuffed out any chance of a Nomads revival.

Ramsey B go top in Ravenscroft Manx Bowl

Dan Richmond and Brandon Atchison ran in four tries each as Ramsey B moved into top spot in the Ravenscroft Manx Bowl with a 61-17 win at Emerging Nomads. Darragh Pilkington Josh Abley and Ben Hardman also picked up tries for Ramsey with Darragh Pilkington converting three. For Nomads the irrepressible Harry Brereton went over twice and there was also a try from Pat Creer.
