Memorable day for D&D and Douglas Athletic

 

Douglas and District and Douglas Athletic pulled off major shocks as Gymns moved back to the top of JCK Division Two on Saturday.


The Tromode side are back at the summit after a 7-0 win over Foxdale, courtesy of goals from Liam Bowley, Jeremy Lovett, Mike Booth (two), Connor Dempsey, Marc Connor and Maric Mervin.


However, they were helped after previous leaders Douglas Royal were beaten 4-3 at Douglas Athletic who are now third.


Steven Cowin, James Horton, a Dan O’Hare penalty and Matty Entwistle were the heroes in a seven goal thriller.


Paul Whitley, Chris Anderson and Kane Dooley scored for Royal but they went down to a surprise defeat.


There was an equally impressive result for their neighbours as John Conroy fired Douglas and District to a super 1-0 win over Colby.


Malew are up to fifth after a 3-2 win at Onchan.


Dean Kinley, Craig Howard and Al Graham were the scorers to secure an impressive three points.


Craig Marsh and Dave Murphy found the net but weren’t able to prevent defeat.


The topsy turvy start to the campaign for two former top flights club was in evidence again at Crosby as Marown saw off Ayre United 5-4.


The hero was Stuart Morris who netted a four goal haul.


Niall Quayle got the other to consign the Tangerines to defeat.


Pulrose United are off the bottom after a 6-3 success over Braddan clinched their first win of the season.


A dominant first half saw them lead 4-1 at the interval and they never looked back.

Joe Reece (two), Barry English, John Paul-Joyce, Matthew Yates and Brian McBurnie scored their goals.


Will Smith, Mark Watterson and Ben O’Neill replied on a disappointing day for Braddan.
