Charity says it wanted to do 'something special' in poignant year
An Island charity which assists local motorcycle racers to fulfill their racing ambitions will support no fewer than five individuals in 2025.
The Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund has announced it will be sponsoring competitors Wayne Avis, Luke Blevins, Blake Kelly, Sam Naughton and Grant Thomson for this year's Manx Grand Prix.
In an update, the organisation says it wanted to do 'something special' as this year marks ten years since Billy Redmayne won the Junior MGP race in 2015.
The charity aims to raise resources to 'ensure a secure future for motorcycle racing, up & coming riders & related charities.'
It was founded to celebrate the life and achievements of Billy Redmayne who was 25 years old when he died in a racing incident at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough in 2016.
As well as supporting local racing efforts, the charity works to 'keep Billy's memory alive.'
The fund is wishing Avis, Blevins, Kelly, Naughton and Thomson luck for the coming season.
