
The Menorcan cycling team manager has issued a full and unreserved apology on behalf of the Island after his Isle of Man counterpart was attacked by a rider.
Gary Hinds had decided to wait en route to see if claims the Menorcan competitor had been cheating in the cross country mountain bike race were true.
Diego Escudero Escriba took the shortcut again, hit Gary and a tree and fell off his bike.
On completion of the race, the rider claimed he had been pushed off, and threw his bike at Gary, cutting his head and hands.
