MGP Supporters Club to begin winding down process

Members vote to dissolve charity ahead of upcoming merger

The Manx Grand Prix Supporters Club is now beginning the process of winding down its operations after over half a century of supporting the event and those involved in it.

Following a meeting on Tuesday, 25 August, the organisation says members unanimously voted in favour of dissolving the charity.

Whilst the current club will close, it is set to merge with the new MGP Benevolent Fund - the new organisation will be known as the Manx Grand Prix Benevolent Fund.

Having been active for the last 51 years, the club is thanking everyone who has assisted it over the years, adding people's support has allowed it to make donations 'in excess of £1.3million' during that period.

Meanwhile, the club's remaining assets will be transferred to the MGP Supporters Benovolent Fund which will continue to support injured riders and the meeting itself.

"At the members meeting held at the Hoggery, Nobles park on Tuesday 25th August the vote was unamiously passed on the proposal to dissolve the charity.

"We will now begin the process off winding down and transfer remaining assets to the MGP Supporters Benevolent Fund ( Registered Charity No 394).

"The support to the MGP and injured riders will continue with the MGP Supporters Benevolent Fund.

"Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported this wonderful club over the past 51 years.

"Your generosity, commitment and support have enabled the club to make donations in excess of £1.3 million during that time.

"That is an incredible achievement, and something I think we can all be extremely proud of.
