Mugen donates TT Zero bike to MNH

Machine to feature in new TT exhibition at Manx Museum

Groundbreaking electric motorcycle technology will feature in the forthcoming TT and motorsport gallery at the Manx Museum.

Japanese firm Mugen has dominated the last six years of the clean emissions race - TT Zero - securing consecutive wins with the likes of Bruce Anstey, John McGuinness and Michael Rutter riding their Shinden machines.

Mugen say they were eager to ensure the advances in electric technology achieved on the Isle of Man were not forgotten, following the dropping of the race from this year's - subsequently cancelled - event after a decade.

They've decided, therefore, to present one of their machines from the 2019 campaign to Manx National Heritage.

The formal handover was to have taken place during the 2020 TT, and despite the restrictions and difficulties imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, the machine has still been making its way by sea freight from Japan.

Last week it arrived in the UK, and it's hoped the bike will complete the final leg of its 9,000-mile journey to Douglas soon.

The gallery at the Manx Museum is scheduled to open in 2022.
