Manxman broke previous IoM record set in 2013
Manx athlete, David Mullarkey, says making Manx history by beating the four-minute mile is something 'quite special'.
Mullarkey clocked a time of three minutes 58.71 seconds at the University of Birmingham Track & Field Festival last Saturday (9 July).
In doing so, he beat the previous Isle of Man record set by Keith Gerrard back in 2013 by 9.52 seconds and smashed his previous personal best time by 34 seconds.
David is also set to represent the Island at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer in the 1,500m.
He spoke to Manx Radio about how it felt to break the four-minute barrier:
