Runners to tackle Slieau Whallian
The 2026 IOM Fell League sponsored by Callin Wild gets underway this afternoon (1 January) with a race to the summit of Slieau Whallian and back.
Getting underway at 1:30pm, the start and finish will be in the St John's and Peel Cricket field with around 300 runners set to take part.
MFR has obtained a road closure order on the section of the Foxdale Road from the Patrick Road corner to near the DEFA Headquarters.
This will run from 1pm until 3pm.
The race will be run as a tribute to Phil Motley who is described as an 'extremely popular member of Manx Fell Runners, IOM Veterans AC and a great supporter of all local athletics' - he passed away earlier this year.
All money raised today will be donated to the Manx Heart Foundation at the request of Lisa Motley and family.
