Nickolas Ellis to make Silverstone sportscar debut

Manx driver entering penultimate round of Ligier European Series

Manx racing driver, Nickolas Ellis will make his sports-prototype debut at the iconic Silverstone Circuit later this week.

The 19-year-old from Port Erin will take on the penultimate round of this year's Ligier European Series at the famous track this Friday and Saturday (11-12 September).

Representing the Trajectus Motorsport team this season, Ellis has already claimed five top-ten finishes so far in the series.

Ahead of this weekend, Ellis says: "My dream is not only to become a professional racing driver competing in high-powered sports-prototypes around the world but also to be an ambassador for the sport both on and off the track.
 
"Silverstone marks an important milestone in my career and proves that dreams can actually come true. I’m immensely proud to be using the UK Youth and the Just Dream Movement platform, both on and off the track, to inspire young people to follow their own dreams whilst showing it is possible by pursuing my own."

The team Ellis competes for is run by three-time Le Mans 24 Hour winner, Benoit Tréluyer, with the Island-born competitor having fellow Brit, Gabriel Doyle-Parfait as his teammate.

Outside of his exploits on track, Ellis is also the Young Ambassador of UK Youth which describes itself as the UK's leading youth work charity 'with a vision that all young people are equipped to thrive and empowered to contribute at every stage of their lives.' 

Former Formula One world champion, Nigel Mansell CBE is the organisation's President.
