Southern Nomads took top spot in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield with a fairly comprehensive 32-5 win away at Ramsey B.
Nomads went ahead after quarter of an hour when Martin Jones picked a great line through the Ramsey midfield to score under the posts, converted by Matt Wilshaw.
Ramsey hit back from the restart when Chris King intercepted a Nomads pass and pulled the lead back to 7-5, however, Nomads’ try machine James Hammal struck for the southerners just before half-time to give them a midway lead of 12-5.
In the second half, Nomads cut loose. Skipper Andy Lean weaved his way through some indifferent tackling to make it 17-5.
Hammal scorched his way 60 metres down the touchline to make it 22-5 and late scores from Matt Bovington-Down and Dave Parks rounded the day off.
Elsewhere in the Shield, Douglas B moved up into second spot with a 22-5 win away at Emerging Nomads.
Joe Whitelegg (two) and Ady Shimmin picked up tries for Douglas with Gareth Hooson-Owen adding a penalty and two conversions. Kev Quantrill picked up a consolation try for Nomads.
At Glencrutchery Road, Vagabonds B out-muscled Castletown 50-22 in a high scoring game.
Andy Pease bagged four tries for Vagas and there were also tries from Matt Rockwell, Chris Neal (two), Chris Hermann and one team try which will have them arguing until Christmas about who got the final touch.
Danny Williams weighed in with a penalty and a conversion.
