Norton are to compete in the Lightweight Race for the first time at TT 2015.
The effort is in addition to the Superbike and Senior races.
Students on The British Motorcycle Manufacturing Academy apprenticeship programme will work at the Norton HQ at Donington Park to run the project.
The bike will use a proven Kawasaki ER6 engine - in line with the majority of the field and will be ridden by Adam Child.
Ohlins have produced some bespoke suspension and the students will start testing in the next few weeks.
