Todd and Cooper take two victories apiece during busy finale

There were four different winners across six races during the final day of this year's North West 200 today (10 May).

Richard Cooper claimed two of those wins, first off by taking top spot in the opening Supertwin race of the day and then coming out on top in a thrilling Supersport showdown.

There was also a brace of victories for Davey Todd who was declared winner of the second and final Superbike race of the day along with an earlier Superstock victory.

Elsewhere, Michael Dunlop won the first Superbike race of Saturday for his third win of the meeting overall whilst Paul Jordan took a surprise top spot in the second Supertwin race.

In ideal conditions, the opening Supertwin race saw Richard Cooper (19 minutes, 25.817 seconds) claim the opening victory of the day just over two-tenths of a second clear of Adam McLean in second (19 minutes, 26.097 seconds) with veteran Jeremy McWilliams (19 minutes, 34.153seconds) impressing again at the meeting this year in third.

There was drama in the following Superbike race as Dunlop initially picked up a ten-second penalty for not stopping in the stop box after going through the Mathers Cross chicane whilst in a battle towards the front with Todd and Hickman.

Dunlop went on to cross the finish line first with his penalty being overturned to see him take his third win of this year's event with a race time of 26 minutes, 5.717 seconds ahead of Todd in second (26 minutes, 7.701 seconds) and Hickman third (26 minutes, 12.722 seconds).

A restart was required on the third contest of the day in the Supersport class following a red flag which stopped the initial start at half distance with the race then restarting over four laps a short time later.

A thrilling three-way battle throughout saw Cooper overcome a short run over the grass late on at Juniper Hill chicane to hold off Harrison in second and Dunlop in third with just 0.294 seconds separating the trio at the finish line.

Race four of the day then saw Todd put the frustration of missing out on top spot in the earlier Superbike contest behind him by storming to a win on his 8TEN Racing BMW in the Superstock race.

However, he was made to work for it by Harrison and Hickman who would finish second and third respectively but with just under one second separating all three at the chequered flag.

The drama then continued into the penultimate race of the day with the final Supertwin contest which initially looked to be a two-way battle at the front between Cooper and McLean.

However, both came together at Juniper Hill chicane to drop out of the race and allow Paul Jordan to storm through and take the win as Michael Sweeney (second) and Barry Furber (third) swept through behind to claim a pair of unlikely podium finishes.

The final race of the meeting and second Superbike race of the day saw a major battle towards the end between Todd and Harrison, however the battle was brought to a premature end on the final lap due to a red flag, seeing Todd declared winner.
