They battled well but both Manx sides went down to defeat in Division Two on Saturday.
Douglas lost 13-8 away at Ruskin Park and Ramsey, on their debut in the division, went down fighting 39-26 away at Orrell.
Douglas trailed 7-3 at half-time, with a Mike Hebden penalty the sole reward for their efforts. A James Wood try in the second half gave Douglas an 8-7 lead but Ruskin Park added a penalty and a drop goal to take the game. Douglas did, however, get a losing bonus point.
Ramsey put in a solid debut performance away at Orrell despite losing. There were tries from Ben Harding, Craig Long, Lance Wyllie and Fintan Cummins, who also bagged three conversions.
