Westeners win by just five runs
In Saturday's Blincoe Cup, Peel and St John’s 'B' won by just five runs in a tense two-innings-per-side tie against Ramsey 'B'.
Batting first, Ramsey made 183 for 3 with Tom Moffatt scoring 45.
The Saints reply was led by, Alex Williamson who hit a splendid 100 – the next highest scorer was Daniel Dickinson with 13.
Despite Alex’s efforts, Peel ended on 169 for 8, giving Ramsey a first innings lead of 14.
The Saints then batted again, but collapsed from 71 for 0 to 116 all out.
Andy Ball, Grant Atchison and Chris Wade each took three wickets.
That left the northerners needing 102 for victory, but in a dramatic climax they were bowled out for 97.
Grant Atchison made 20 while Daniel Dickinson and Greg Miller took two wickets each.
In the other tie, Crosby beat Castletown Veterans by eight wickets.
The Marown side made 157 for 3 and dismissed the Vets for 76 and 126.
Crosby then got to 45 for 2 to win by eight wickets.
