Praise for Manx squad's performance in Canada
Powerlifting Isle of Man is returning home with a big medal haul after impressing at the 2026 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Canada.
Over the course of the ten-day event in Winnipeg from 17-27 September, the 12-strong Manx squad came away with 30 individual medals in total.
That was made up of 15 gold medals as well as five silver and ten bronze.
Outside of the solo achievements, Powerlifting Isle of Man took gold in the Sub Junior and Junior Women's Bench Press Championship.
Following the conclusion of the competition, Powerlifting Isle of Man says: "Every single athlete gave everything they had, supported each other, represented the Island with pride and showed exactly what Team IOM is all about.
"From our youngest lifters to our Masters athletes, this team has shown that powerlifting on the Isle of Man is growing, developing and making its mark on the international stage."
The Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships are scheduled to reutn in 2028 with the hosts still yet to be confirmed.
