It was a baptism of fire but the Island went down fighting with their pride intact in their opening badminton match of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
World champions Malaysia ran out 5-0 winners against the Island but it was a battling showing with Island player Josh Green leading the charge, taking 16 points in his first game against the world number one.
The Manx were beaten 4-1 by Nigeria in their second fixture with Green winning the Island match.
The Manx play Seychelles and Australia on Tuesday evening, the Aussie clash is due to be televised.
