It was a baptism of fire but the Island went down fighting with their pride intact in their opening badminton match of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
World champions Malaysia ran out 5-0 winners against the Island but it was a battling showing with Island player Josh Green leading the charge, taking 16 points in his first game against the world number one.
The Manx were beaten 4-1 by Nigeria in their second fixture with Green winning the Island match.
The Manx play Seychelles and Australia on Tuesday evening, the Aussie clash is due to be televised.
After the match, Green reflected on his efforts.
