Rally Isle of Man is to move from the summer schedule to an Autumn date.
Next year's event will run from the 27th to 29th October and will be the final round of the British Rally Championship.
The last time it was the deciding event of the series was in 2000 when it was held at the beginning of September - since 2003 it has taken place in July.
One of the factors taken into consideration between event organisers, championship co-ordinators and the Isle of Man Government Department of Economic Affairs was to reduce the cost for competitors.
By now avoiding the peak holiday season, teams should benefit from cheaper travel and accomodation.
The change of date is also attracting interest from the Irish Tarmac Championship and could return to their schedule in 2012.
