Ravens wrap up season with 2-0 loss

Paul Jones says it's sad the season didn't end the way it started

FC Isle of Man's final NWCFL Premier Division season came to an end with a sad loss yesterday.

The Ravens went up against West Didsbury & Chorlton at the Bowl.

During the first half none of the teams could find the back of the net but the second half saw a goal by Victor Abadaki in the 52nd minute.

Another goal in the 81st minute by Jordan Lazenburg sealed the fate of the Ravens.

The team has been on a torrid run this season with just two wins this calendar year - finishing 15th with 61 points.

FC Isle of Man Manager Paul Jones says it's sad the season didn't end the way it started, adding his team didn't take chances in games:

The end of the 24/25 season marks the end of a journey with three players.

Club captain Sean Doyle, Jack McVey and Ronan McDonnell announced they were leaving after this weekend's game.

In a personal message to supporters, Doyle says he felt it's the 'right time' to move on as it's been a struggle this season to commit completely to 'work and personal commitments.'

Meanwhile, McVey adds: "My favourite memory has to be scoring the first ever goal against Guernsey in the Skipton Cup in front of a sell-out crowd. That first season stands out for obvious reasons. It was a special time.

Elsewhere, McDonnell - who will leave due to work commitments - also commented: "It’s been a privilege to play for the Ravens over the last few years."
