Manx teen ready for Commonwealth Youth Games
A record-breaking Manx athlete says she can’t wait to take on some of the best young runners in the world in Samoa this year.
Seventeen-year-old 400m runner Catherine Reid won two golds at the Natwest Island Games in Jersey – and followed that last week with a bronze at the World Youth Athletics Championships in Colombia.
On the way, she’s smashed the Island’s 400m record – first in Jersey, then in Colombia – and is hotly tipped to be an athletics star of the future.
She’ll also be one of seven Manx competitors at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in September, and told Tim Glover on Manx Radio’s Friday Sport programme she can't wait to compete:
Hockey: Mixed results for IoM at county championships
TT 2026: Manx duo to lead Flitwick Motorcycles Sportbike charge
Rugby: Douglas beat Wilmslow to claim Cheshire Vase
Football: Eight progress to Cowell Cup quarter-finals
Davey Todd ruled out of TT 2026
