Rugby: Vagabonds Ladies to celebrate 25th anniversary this weekend

Three England players to visit Island as part of event

Vagabonds Ladies rugby club will celebrate an important milestone this weekend with a trio of international rugby stars visiting the Island as part of the occasion.

This year marks 25 years since the club was first formed and a special event hosted by Wooden Spoon IoM in partnership with the club will be held tomorrow (1 July) to recognise the milestone.

Three of England's Red Roses players - Poppy Cleall, Bryony Cleall and Connie Powell - will host free coaching sessions for girls and ladies aged 14 and over between 10am and 11.45am at Vagabonds Rugby Club at Ballafletcher.

There will be two coaching sessions both of which are free to attend and don't require booking in advance.

That'll be followed by an evening dinner event which will also be attended by sports broadcaster, Laura-Jane Jones.

The event as a whole is aiming to generate funds for Wooden Spoon IoM - which supports vulnerable, disabled and disadvantaged children - as well as raise the profile of women's rugby on Manx shores.

Speaking to Manx Radio, Vagas player Lauren Ellison and Jo McCabe of Wooden Spoon IoM explain how significant an occasion this weekend is:
