Rushen and St Mary's avoid shocks

Rushen maintained their advantage at the top of the Sure Mobile Premier League on Saturday – but only just!

A late Adam Cregeen goal fired them to a 2-1 home win over lowly St John’s.

Tom Craine put Rushen ahead but a shock looked on the cards when Steven Quine equalised for the westerners.

However, Cregeen scored at the death to ensure maximum points for the leaders.

It was similar circumstances at the Bowl as St Mary’s were made to come from behind before securing maximum points to stay in third.

Jonathan Leece was on target for Ramsey but Martin Reilly and Stephen Glover grabbed the goals to seal an important comeback.

Laxey stay in second after a 6-0 home drubbing of Union Mills.

David Thomas set the Miners on their way before a Lee Cowley hat-trick and an Ashley Webster double secured a comprehensive victory.

The result confirmed pointless Mills’ relegation to Division Two.

Craig Stewart was the hero as Old Boys saw off Gymns 4-2 at Blackberry Lane.

Liam Buckley netted the other with Ciaran McNulty and Jonathan Broad finding the net for Gymns.

Peel overcame Castletown 3-0 at the Stadium to show their class – Rob Cottier, Kevin Megson and Johnny Myers the marksmen.

Reigning champions St George's had too much for Corinthians at Noble’s Park.

They won 4-0 courtesy of goals from Chris Bass junior (two), James McStay and Sam Caine.
