Sir Mark Cavendish lap of honour pushed back to Friday

It's due to poor weather being forecast tomorrow

This week's Sir Mark Cavendish Lap of Honour at the NSC in Douglas has been pushed back to this Friday (16 August).

The event had been due to take place tomorrow (15 August) but has been postponed due to forecast poor weather.

It'll now get underway at 1pm on Friday at the NSC raceway.

What's more, Cavendish is now also inviting children to bring their bikes and join him on the lap around the raceway he rode as a youngster.

Any children wishing to take part are asked to arrive at the NSC raceway with their bikes on the day by 12.45pm.

They must be able to ride their bike on two-wheels and without stabilisers and must also wear a helmet.

Elsewhere, spectators are being invited to spectate around the track and should arrive at the raceway from 12pm and be in place by 12.45pm - NSC staff will be on hand to advise people on where to spectate from.

Officials are also advising parking in and around the NSC will be 'extremely limited' and people are being encouraged to travel on foot, by bus or by bicycle.

This will be Sir Mark Cavendish's first visit to his home nation since securing a record-breaking 35th stage win at the Tour de France last month.
