Skillicorn tops hill-running league

Simon Skillicorn (pictured) was back on top in the third and final round of the Winter Hill-Running League on Saturday and claimed the 2008 title in the process.

The Manx Fell Runners' Club member finished the Slieu Whallian course in 20:14, ten seconds ahead of club-mate Tom Cringle.

Another MFR runner, Brian Osborne, took third place in 21:03.

Skillicorn has dominated the league over the last couple of seasons, winning all three rounds in 2007 and two out of three this year.

Gianni Epifani is the only man to defeat him in that time, winning round two at Peel last month.

Skillicorn's combined times have given him the overall 2008 title with Osborne second and MFR's Anthony Bell-Scott third.

Manx Harriers' Richard Sille and Phil Cain complete the top five.
