Island squad on the road for three-day event
Special Olympics Isle of Man will begin its campaign at the 2026 Special Olympics Gibraltar National Games today (24 June).
A squad of Island competitors will be part of the 41st edition of the event which runs from today (24 June) until Friday (26 June).
There, they will compete across the sports of athletics, futsal, bocce, ten-pin bowling and swimming up against teams from Gibraltar, Algeciras and Estepona.
First will be the opening ceremony of the games at the Lathbury Sports Centre at 6pm - after that, the athletics competition kicks the competitive action off at the same venue.
Tomorrow (25 June) the focus turns to the futsal tournament between 9am and 12.30pm at the SOG Sports Complex before the Paola Poggio Bocce tournament from 4pm to 7.30pm at the same location.
Meanwhile, the final day (26 June) will feature the bowls competition at Kings Bastion Leisure Centre from 9.30am to 12pm before concluding with the swimming events at Lathbury Swimming Pool from 6pm to 8pm.
