The Manx Sports Aid Foundation has lodged plans to build a Sports Institute at the National Sports Centre.
It's propsed the building will be next to the Athletics track grandstand.
The two-storey structure will house a strength and conditioning gym, a performance lab for fitness testing and video analysis, a consulting room for physiotherapy and medical treatment, and a sports education suite for seminars and coaching briefings.
The facility is designed to help elite athletes and Isle of Man representative teams.
Sports Council Chairman Geoff Karran says the Institute will improve the chances of the Island's top competitors being successful:-
