State of Victoria to host 2026 Commonwealth Games

Events will take place across multiple Australian cities

The State of Victoria in Australia has been confirmed as the hosts of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) says it'll take place in March of that year across multiple cities including Melbourne, Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat and Gippsland.

The opening ceremony will take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground - an initial 16 sports have been put forward for the games, with further sports to be added later this year.

Meanwhile, this year's Commonwealth Games will be taking place in Birmingham between 28 July and 8 August.

The Tier 1 and Tier 2 athletes to represent the Isle of Man at the games this summer were announced earlier this year.
