Strong Manx team announced for Celtic

A strong Isle of Man team has been announced for the Celtic Match races at Knockhill this weekend.

Solo riders: Callum Collister, Kev Cringle, Mark Cringle, Andy Cowin, Jonny Heginbotham, Gav Hunt, Dan Kneen, Ryan Kneen and Stephen Oates.

Sidecar teams: Karl Bennett/Lee Cain, Alan Langton/Dave Bolton and Dave Quirk/Matty Bartlett.

The team reflects the high standard of competition in the Island, and includes both young up-and-coming riders and those with experience.

Dan Kneen is, of course, a triple Manx Grand Prix winner, making history as the first rider ever to win three in one week, and he did it as a newcomer.

Brother Ryan is also a MGP winner.

And Mark Cringle will be full of confidence after securing the Triumph Michelin Young Guns Cup at Silverstone at the weekend.

The Celtic Match Races were first held in 1979 on the old Jurby Airfield Hangar circuit, to celebrate the millennium of Tynwald.

Every year since, the four Celtic nations (Isle of Man, Scotland, Ireland and Wales) have competed for the prize of a magnificent full-size replica Manx Sword of State.
